Abano Terme is considered the most important thermal resort in Italy and among the first in Europe. The ritual of dipping oneself into the thermal waters awakens prenatal memories and pleasures:  such waters come from the Piccole Dolomiti mountains, sink three thousand meters deep into the ground and resurface at a temperature of 85-87 °C. They are hot, mineralised, therapeutic and collected in thermal pools. Here their curative and beneficial actions combine with those of volcanic mud. Both hot and cool, curative and cosmetic, mud represents, together with water, the basic resource for a large number of health treatments and one's own psychophysical well-being – a true regeneration of the whole person.
