The prices
For the groups of intermediate & advanced tangueros: (July & August):
Euro 720,- pp (=> Early booking discount: Euro 700,- pp; for booking by March 1st, 2010)
Advance to pay cash: 280 € pp (before 1st March: 260 € pp). Rest to be paid to the hotel (credit card).

For the group of the intermediate-advanced students of Lin & Daniel: (July):

For the group of neo beginners: (August, 10 hrs of workshops):
Euro 670,- pp (=> Early booking discount: Euro 650,- pp; for booking by March 1st, 2010)
Advance to pay cash: 230 € pp (before 1st March: 210 € pp). Rest to be paid to the hotel (credit card).

Extra cost for room with Lake view: Euro 10 pp/day
extra cost single room: Euro 25 pp/day

The holiday includes
- Hotel half board accommodation for 7 nights in air-conditioned double rooms with private bath or shower, wc, hairdryer, satellite TV, telephone and safe. The participants have free use of the hotel's private beach, swimming pool, fitness room, ping pong table, tennis court, computer with Internet connection...
- Buffet breakfast (till 10 AM) and evening meals with typical Italian food. Every evening an outstanding menu is proposed with first course, main course, side dishes, salad buffet, dessert. 1/4 L mineral water and 1/4 L wine per person are included in the price.
- The Tango workshops (a total of 10, 15 or 17 hrs, according to each group)
- Every evening milonga till 01h AM, one gala evening with tango shoes sales and teachers'exhibition
- A boat trip on the Lake and a stop at a local market organised for the group at a friendly price

Birkit Wildenburg & Muzaffer Demiray

Birkit & Muzaffer have been teaching and performing tango since 1994 in several cities in and outside The Netherlands. Their school, Tango La Zapada, has grown into an important tango place in Utrecht. They belong to the hard core of El Corte (Nijmegen) teachers and have a long tradition in giving workshops at the International week each summer. Besides workshop weekends all over Europe, they have a vast experience of tango holidays in France, Italy and the UK.

Michelle & Murat Erdemsel

Over the last few years, Michelle & Murat have become one of the leading tango couples of the USA (and now are very popular in Europe). They constantly travel to teach and perform all over the world. Since the end of 2008, they have been invited to major festivals and venues such as Tango Fusion Rimini, Tangomagia Amsterdam, the Brussels Tango Festival...

During the tango weeks in Baveno, the 3 above couples of teachers will focus on technique, as well as on detailed refinements regarding refinement posture, axis & balance, embrace, foot work, adornos, musicality, leading and following. The aim is to create a more harmonious, comfortable and enjoyable dance.

Classes & milongas
For details on the classes by Lin & Daniel (July), please contact them.
For the neo beginners there will be 10 hours of classes with Caroline & Luc (August), including couple technique, basic figures and sequences, as well as an introduction to vals and milonga rhythms.
For the intermediate and advanced dancers there will be a total of 15 hours of tango classes; including couple technique, figures, sequences, musical interpretation, vals and milonga. Each intermediate and advanced participant will have an equal amount of lessons with Marisa & Oliver and with Birkit & Muzaffer (July) or with Marisa & Oliver and with Michelle & Murat (August). The tango classes will be taught in 2 separate, spacious dancing rooms. Classes will take place after breakfast and before or after supper.
A detailed schedule of the classes will be published one month before the tango week.
Classes will most likely be in English. Most of the teaching staff also speaks French, Dutch, German, Spanish, Italian...

The evening milongas take place in the beautiful dancing hall with lake view (21h30>01h00). We organise a gala night with a teachers' exhibition and tango shoes sales, which is also open to local tangueros.

Levels
For the intermediates (15 hrs of classes with 2 couples of teachers) at least 2 years regular tango teaching and dancing is required.
For the advanced (15 hrs of classes with 2 couples of teachers) at least 4 years intensive tango teaching and dancing is required.
For the neo beginners (10 hrs of classes with Caroline and Luc) a minimum of 3 months tango teaching and dancing is required.
The teachers will evaluate the level and divide the participants into the different groups (max. 16 couples per group). It is not possible to change group, nor to participate in more than 1 level.
For the intermediate/advanced group of La Luna (17 hrs of classes with Lin & Daniel), students are selected by the teachers.

The Lago Maggiore
On the borders of Piedmont, Lombardy and Switzerland, the Maggiore Lake is the second largest Italian lake, after Garda.
It is situated close to the Alps, stretching for 65 km from Magadino to Sesto Calende. Most of the lake lies in Italian territory, in Piedmont and in Lombardy; only the most northerly end belongs to Switzerland.
The micro climate is mild and the summers are not as hot as the rest of Italy (+/- 26°C). Lake Maggiore, repository of the wealth and cultural patrimony left by the Borromeo family, is still testimony to their prestige and refinement which can be seen in their magnificent island palazzi with their impressive Italian gardens, and the imposing Fortress of Angera. The Monastery of Santa Caterina clinging to the rocky cliff; Stresa and the Borromeo Islands, small in size but rich in history, are just a few of the timeless examples awaiting the visitor.

The Hotel
The family run Lido Palace Hotel**** is set in a centuries- old park and housed within a modernised, 1760-built villa located directly opposite the Borromean Islands. Built on raised ground 10 minutes’ walk from the centre of Baveno and the ferry stop, the views of the lake and its islands are spectacular.

The history of the hotel is something to bear in mind. It has guested numerous and illustrious names from composer Richard Wagner to Winston Churchill on his honeymoon in 1908.Perhaps most impressive of all was Queen Victoria in 1879. The statue in the Belvedere of the hotel commemorates her stay.

In 1997, italian film maker Carlo Lizzania filmed the historical WWII movie Hotel Meina in the Lido Palace hotel.

Also look out for the names of some of the public rooms which also tell a story: Hall of the Belgians, Oval Hall, Dancing and American Bar and Renaissance hall.

Most rooms have high sloping ceilings. Some rooms have a balcony and either garden or lake view. Deluxe rooms were refurbished recently with upgraded soft furnishings, period furniture and marble bathrooms with jacuzzi baths.

The hotel offers: bar with outdoor terrace, comfortable lounge, dining room with superb lake views, card room, billiard room, fitness room, internet, swimming pool, private lakeside bathing area with deckchairs and umbrellas, 20.000m² of lawns and gardens, tennis court, lifts.

After a day splashing about in the outdoor swimming pool or on the private beach and jetty, guests can enjoy panoramic lake views from both the Italian cuisine restaurant and the terrace snack bar. Golf, horse riding and hiking enthusiasts find facilities in the vicinity, along with a wildlife park, mountain biking trails and a dock for boats ferrying guests to and from the islands. Guests arriving by car find complimentary parking and the Milan Malpensa Airport (MXP) at a distance of 55 kilometres (driving time is about 1 hour).

- For singles there is a possibility for a single occupation of a double room at a supplement of 25,- € per day (only a few single rooms are available, so mention it at the time of your reservation). Singles can also share a room with other singles (e.g. 2 ladies & 2 men together).

- For rooms with Lake view the supplement is 10,- € per person, per day (25 rooms available with Lake view).
