The Teachers

Marisa van Andel & Oliver Koch
Brussels/B, Al compás del corazón / La Tangueria
Saturday 28th July > Saturday 4th August 2012
Sunday 5th August > Sunday 12th August 2012

After a career in the contemporary dance company Rosas, Marisa & Oliver have been working as a tango couple since 1996, giving workshops and exhibitions all over Europe as well as in the USA and Buenos Aires. They danced in different tango shows in The Netherlands and Belgium and they have trained several of today's professional tango dancers in Belgium and abroad.
They also have a vast experience in teaching and organising tango holidays in Italy, France and Austria. Their tango school Al compás del corazón and their milonga in La Tangueria have become a reference for tango in Belgium and abroad.
Alma Dujso & Aldo Velásquez
Copenhagen/DK, Tango Poetry
Saturday 28th July > Saturday 4th August 2012
Alma & Aldo are a dancing couple based in Copenhagen, Denmark. Aldo has a background in contemporary dance and Alma is a tai chi teacher.
They have worked together recent years in weekly classes, workshops and festivals all over Scandinavia and Europe, and also danced and choreographed in fusion exhibitions with contemporary dance companies. They are known for their dynamic natural dance style, pleasant personalities and pedagogical teaching.
Barbara Carpino & Claudio Forte
Siracusa/It, Paladanze
Sunday 5th August > Sunday 12th August 2012
Barbara & Claudio have been dancers since their youngest age, with a sound background in ballet, ballroom and latin dancing. Since 2002 they are into Argentine tango. They are among the most appreciated dancers in teachers and of Italy, and they regularly teach and perform in other European countries, as well as in Russia and Asia. Their tango school Paladanze is a reference in Sicily, and the Sircusa Tango Festival is a big international event in which they gather every year some of the best tango maestros and hundreds of international dancers from all over the world. We are proud to present Barbara & Claudio in 2012 for the first time in Baveno, and we are sure that their kind personality, their teaching and their dancing will be highly appreciated by all the participants.

During the two tango weeks in Baveno, the intermediate and advanced dancers will be taught by Marisa & Oliver, and by Alma & Aldo (1st week) or Barbara & Claudio (2nd week). The classes will focus on technique, as well as on detailed refinements regarding posture, axis & balance, embrace, foot work, adornos, musicality, leading and following. The aim is to create a more harmonious, comfortable and enjoyable dance.

Each of the 2 weeks, one other couple will complete the teaching staff with a separate group of students, i.e.:

Véronique Daco & Thierry De Coster
Momalle/B, Otra Noche
Saturday 28th July > Saturday 4th August 2012
Before discovering the Argentine tango in 2005, Véronique Daco & Thierry De Coster were renown standard and latin dancers in the international competition circuit. In 2008 they opened their own Tango school Otra Noche in Momalle (Liège, Belgium). They currently give classes also at Nosotros in Brussels and they have taught in the past at La Mi'Lune in Liège and in La Tangueria.
Their pedagogy is based primarily on the respect of the partner, on the complicity in the couple and on the emotion in the musical interpretation, leading to a true fusion of bodies.
They will be in Baveno with a group of their own students from Liège and surroundings.

The Lago Maggiore
O
n the borders of Piedmont, Lombardy and Switzerland, the Maggiore Lake is the second largest Italian lake, after Garda. It is situated close to the Alps, stretching for 65 km from Magadino to Sesto Calende. Most of the lake lies in Italian territory, in Piedmont and in Lombardy; only the most northerly end belongs to Switzerland.
The micro climate is mild and the summers are not as hot as the rest of Italy (+/- 26°C). Lake Maggiore, repository of the wealth and cultural patrimony left by the Borromeo family, is still testimony to their prestige and refinement which can be seen in their magnificent island palazzi with their impressive Italian gardens, and the imposing Fortress of Angera. The Monastery of Santa Caterina clinging to the rocky cliff; Stresa and the Borromeo Islands, small in size but rich in history, are just a few of  the timeless examples awaiting the visitor.

The Hotel

The history of the hotel is something to bear in mind. It has guested numerous and illustrious

In 1997, italian film maker Carlo Lizzania filmed the historical WWII movie Hotel Meina in the Lido Palace hotel.

Also look out for the names of some of the public rooms which also tell a story: Hall of the Belgians, Oval Hall, Dancing and American Bar and Renaissance hall.
